About me
Hello! I am Charlotte. I trained as a professional contemporary dancer and have worked for over 20 years as a dance artist, choreographer, mentor and teacher. Despite all this training, I always felt intimidated by the gym and wasn’t confident in that environment.
Following the birth of my two children in 2018 and 2023, I experienced diastasis recti, prolapse, incontinence and birth injuries. I struggled to find time to exercise, my body didn’t feel strong anymore and previous pleasures like running no longer felt possible. I worked closely with a pelvic health physiotherapist and discovered the benefits of regular pelvic floor, core stability, strength and functional fitness exercises.
This led me to qualify as a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Level 2 Gym Instructor. Now, in my 40s I feel stronger, fitter and more confident in my body and it’s abilities than I think I ever have. I am especially interested in supporting women to feel connected, strong and confident in their bodies through the different chapters of life - whether that includes hormonal changes, pregnancy, childbirth, postnatal recovery and motherhood, peri-menopause and menopause, injuries and beyond. Having experienced childbirth injuries myself and navigated the journey back to strength and confidence, I understand first-hand the physical and emotional challenges many women face. This allows me to offer genuine empathy and understanding as well as professional guidance.
Why train with me?
What makes training with me different is the combination of specialist support and a welcoming, non-judgemental environment. Sessions will take place in my peaceful, spacious home studio and private garden in East Brighton, creating a relaxed "home-from-home" setting where you can feel comfortable, supported and free from self-consciousness. Nestled amongst other gardens and benefitting from sea views, my setting provides a unique sanctuary space surrounded by nature that gives you a bit of time and space for yourself away from busy work and family life.
My background in dance with over 20 years' experience working with movement gives me a deep understanding of how the body moves, adapts and recovers. Rather than focusing solely on exercise, I help clients reconnect with their bodies, build strength safely and sustainably, and develop confidence that extends beyond our sessions.
Feel free to roam the rest of this website to find out more about my artistic practice and what I do when I’m not coaching!
